Bennett Springs State Park

A mecca for trout fisherman at Missouri’s third largest spring. The spring branch is stocked nightly with rainbow and brown trout from the on site fish hatchery from March through October. No swimming allowed in fishing areas, but swimming is allowed at public access across highway. Large campground--but we found the shower house in tenting area subpar. Well stocked camp store, motel, cabins, swimming pool, canoe rental, and Civilian Conservation Corp built rustic 1930’s dining lodge. Location: Bennett Springs west of Lebanon on HWY 64, 26250 Route 64A. Information: (417) 532-4338.

Ha Ha Tonka State Park

With “castle” ruins overlooking Lake of the Ozarks and Ha Ha Tonka Spring in the valley below, this park has something for visitors of all ages. A dozen excellent trails of varying lengths and terrain offer hikes for all levels of abilities. Day use only, backpack camping allowed on Turkey Pen Hollow Trail. Fishing docks. Location: West of Camdeton just south of HWY 54.

Alley Spring
